Hi. I was curious to find out if there ever was a mill at Raby Mere. The post mill pictured on the home page of this site, is of Irby Mill, demolished in 1898 by 2 unskilled labourers hired by the miller.They attempted to take the mill down brick by brick,but the structure became unstable and collapsed while they worked on it.Luckily, they escaped with their lives!At Raby there is a property called Mill house which allegedly dates back to the 10th century.However,I'm still looking for further information to confirm if there was a mill on the site or nearby.I would be glad to hear from anyone who has further information,in the meantime,i will continue searching.
