Have only limited information on this; anyone got a copy of the Rev. Massie paper of 1850 or the section drawn by the engineer at the time o discovery in 1845? Any info would be welcome! Many thanks.

This has been covered in a past edition of the Newsletter of Birkenhead 

History Society . Have not got my index to hand right now but suggest you

contact them via their Website or get in touch with Francesca in the 

Archives of W.B.C. at Shore Road, Birkenhead.
