Military Camp at Upton - World War 2

Hello, I am researching my family history and my Grandfather tells me that he was stationed in Upton at the beginning of World War 2.

He helped train recruits at the camp and also delivered ammunition to the guns sites.

Does anyone have information about the camp in Upton such as photographs and the actual location of the site.

My Grandfather believes the camp was in the grounds of a big house / farm.

Any help would be really appreciated.

Many thanks
John

I have not heard of an Upton camp but there was one on Bidston, down School Lane and, of course, RAF West Kirby actually between Greasby & Moreton, also not far from Saughall Massie and Upton, could have been the same place.

RAF WK - scroll down the page

Hi John,

I hope that I am not 2 years too late with this information but this site (http://www.upton-wirral.co.uk/upt68.php) has information about an army camp in Upton which may well be what your grandfather was talking about.

Andy
