From absolutely nowhere, this morning, I a smell came to me that took me right back to the pet shop just down from "Coopers" - was it called "Lally's"? I think it probably sold gardening bits and pieces as well as pet food - I know we used to get long canes there, to use as fishing rods up at the Rake Ends ponds, by the railway bridge on Lees Lane. Innocent pleasures, hey.
