In the early 90's I stayed in Neston for 3 months and was given a series o small A5 magazines about the Wirral. It was mainly about the history of the area, and was great as I found places of interest that I may not of otherwise. I cannot remember the name of the magazine, does anyone know anything about it, or can let me know where I can get them. Many thanks.
I have some issues of the 'Wirral Champion' 2005ish. A3 sized with articles relating to the Wirral. It was published by Mr John M Birtwistle 3 or 4 times per year and was an interesting read for 'wirralians'. I am not sure if it's still published; if you go on the web site ( Google 'The Wirral Champion' ) it appears to have been hacked by 'Iranians' and the telephone number rings out. The magazine did have some problems in the late 90's but was resurected and re-issued early 2000. If you find out any more let me know as I would like to get hold of any back numbers still around.
The magazine is still published quarterly by Mr John Birtwistle from his offices by the Four Bridges in Birkenhead . It is A5 size and quite glossy and now sells at £ 2.50 per copy. It was originally written and printed by Ken Burnley but Birtwistle took it over from him some years ago. I have many back issues in my possession and several spare copies. Did you want a particular article or a particular edition of the mag? Could always post you the one you want. Normal charge is £1 for each back-issue.
