Cottages on Arrowe Park road

Hi, I have recently moved into one of the white cottages on Arrowe Park road, just by The Stirup pub. And I am desperate to know their history. Like when were they built. And what was the area around them like back then. And what sort of people lived in them. They are quite old. But I don't know where to even look to find out the history. So any help would be very appreciated. Thanks x

There are several books available which deal with the history of this area. Greg Dawson is the local expert and his
book called 'Arwe" will be in the local library at Upton . There are also 1 or 2 books of old postcards and photos
by Ian Boumphrey which have shots of your area in. There is another book by Greg Dawson with the title TINGVELLE.
This covers Landican,Arrowe Park,Woodchurch,Thingwall and all that part of Wirral.

My mother's family lived in one of the cottages along Arrowe Park Road and she knows a little about the history of the area. Apparently the road was originally known as Bunker's Hill, although the name changed to Arrowe Park Road well before she was born. I know she's also told me before now that the first two cottages (the Upton end) were the first to be built, although I don't know when. She also knew some of the families that lived there - I don't know the history myself but if you wanted to get in touch, I'm sure she could fill you in.
