my grandparents lived in one half up to the early 70's, its also know as coastguards cottage and sally's cottage. there is some mention of it on the dee sailing club history page http://www.dee-sc.co.uk/club-info/club-history/ . i have a few old photo's of it from the late 60's early 70's and loads of memories of playing there, the only bad memory is of the outside toilet, that was located to the far right of the garden as you look at it, needless to say there was a pot under every bed!
Many thanks for your memories. It must have been fascinating to have lived in such a place as a child. I will have a look at the Dee Sailing Club info you suggest.
Greg Dawson says in Wirral Gleanings that Shore Cottage / Sally's Cottage may have been the Watch House of the customs officers stationed at Dawpool, a lost port that was somewhere in the vicinity. FC Beazley also mentions Dawpool and Shore Cottage (I think) in his book Thurstaston In Cheshire.
