I met my future wife in Lever Bros in Jan 75 and in about 2 months we were married and I lived with her in Egerton Park at 78. We then moved to our own house in Bulwer Street. We left the area in 1981 and moved to Germany with our 3 children. Now residing in Sutton Coldfield where I run amongst others, a local history site. I also have kept in touch with life in the Wirral and created my own wirralhistory.net site. It has been a labour of love and brought back many fond memories to a hell of a lot of people.
Why did we leave? It was the beginning of the end of the old style and the beginning of the new more anarchistic style of life, the birth of shutters on shops and the more aggressive, drug related community. This was 1981 and we decided that the children were not going to be brought up in such an environment. A wise decision at the time and I am not sorry. But I do keep in touch and visit Rock Ferry whenever I get the chance.
My wife Sue originally came from Ionic Street School and lived either there or Howson Street. Now in our 36th year of marriage!!
