I lived at Lingham Farm throughout the 1950s and I can remember a few summers (mid 50s) watching my grandfather and dad gathering the hay from a field in what I used to call Meols field. My mum used to take a picnic for us all (my brothers included). We walked down a narrow pathway off Lingham Lane before passing some tall reeds and turned left into the field. It is one of my few treasured memories of my dad before he died in 1959. I'd love a response from anyone who remembers any of this
Facebook page Wirral In Old Photographs, had a picture on the other week of men collecting hay from a field that was at the junction of Park Lane and Benents Lane which would fit with your description. It was posted by Syd Bird.
