I can't help you that far back but there was a girl in my class at Woodslee school named Fogg. The 1940s. I can't remember her first name. A relation of yours perhaps?
Thank you Colin, I do have the info, but only have 10 children, William was my husband's 3rd great grandfather, where do you come in from? Regards Joan
Hi, My Foggs were born on the Wirral, I have a William born in 1772, he had 2 brothers James & John, so don't know if your William is one of their sons, their Father was called James & their Mother Ann Lewis. Do you have the wife & parents of your William.
By my current estimation, William Fogg b. 1772 is my 3rd great grandfather. He and Martha had a son Samuel. I believe Samuel married a Mary Jones and had son Thomas (b. 1824) in Birkenhead. I tracked that information via FamilySearch.com Thomas is my great grandfather. He along with his then companion/wife, Fanny Lewis, immigrated to Canada from Birkenhead about 1853. Thomas and Fanny had seven children in Canada. Thomas died in hospital Windsor Ontario in 1897 having been transported their from his home at that time, in Detroit. I would love to here from anyone who can provide more information about the William - Samuel - Thomas link. I would also be interested in learning more about William's parents (James and Ann) and his ancestors.
Hi Barry, William & Martha Banks did have a son Samuel born 1800, but he married Ann Lloyd in 1828. I do not have anyone going to Canada. Do you have the right family or maybe I have the wrong one. I don't know, but tracing them back they all fit in. This is my husband's family and he was born in Birkenhead. Do you have any certificates with information relating to the Fogg's? Regards
It is quite possible I have the wrong Sam and the wrong William. I have no certificates to authenticate the connections. Unfortunately there appears to be several Thomas, Sam, and William Foggs living in the the region at that time.
I have, to date, relied pretty much on free access information available through FamilySearch.org [the Sam, Mary and Thomas link that identified Thomas, his sister Elizabeth (b. 1826) and brother Sam Jr. (b. 1837)] and Ancestory.com [where the 1841 Birkenhead census locates, a then 16 year old Thomas (b. 1824), living with a 70 year old William Fogg whom I took to be his grandfather.) The census information linking this particular Thomas and William is, I realize, a weak connection, but it seemed reasonable given that I also found his family listed separately but without Thomas.
FamilySearch shows the marriage of a Samuel Fogg and Mary Jones,15 AUG 1823 Saint Nicholas, Liverpool, Lancashire, England. FS also shows the marriage of a Samuel Fogg and Ann Lloyd, 18 APR 1828 Saint Nicholas, Liverpool, Lancashire, England
The 1851 census for Birkenhead shows a Samuel Fogg (b. abt.1800) age 50, his wife Ann (b. 1805) age 46, of Denbighshire, Wales, a daughter Elizabeth age 22, and a son Samuel age 14. Wife's name here does not coincide with the FamilySearch record nor does Elizabeth's age but the similarities seem too close to be coincidental. I have wondered if it was possilbe that this same Sam remarried. If so, did Mary die? Did Thomas not get along with his step-mother, promting him to eventually move out to live with his grandfather? Thing is, Cheshire BMD shows a death certif. for a Mary Fogg who passed away in Birkenhead in 1887 at the age of 91 (b. 1796). Was this Thomas's mother or some other Mary Fogg?
Hi Barry, I have a tree on ancestry and have found a lady who has the same family as yours a Thomas Fogg born in Cheshire in 1824 married to a Fanny Lewis, who went to Canada. Have you been in touch with her if not I will send her an email for you. Regards
I have been in contact with at least one person who has I tree on Ancestry that includes my ggf Thomas Fogg (b.1824), but that one does not extend to his father and grandfather. If there is one that does this I would love to see it. Please feel free to email this person on my behalf. Thanks Barry

Hi Mike, My husbands family, his grandmother was Louisa Mary Fogg, 1877, daughter of Samuel Fogg. I have a tree on Ancestry and can now tie up some of the loose ends of the Banks family. Thank you.
