Paddling pool in Bromborough Village

I remember a huge crater on the Bradmoor field near Bromborough shops. It was deep enough for the water that filled it to go over our wellies when we paddled in it.  I think the area is a car park now. What a pity. It was the remains of the moorland that must have been in the area and according to my old Headmaster Mr. Oakes was the scene of a big battle. The Celts, Picts and Vikings against the Anglo Saxons. It may only have been a legend! The victors were the Anglo Saxons. There was terrible bloodshed and loss of life.

Your talking about the Battle of Brunanburh. Its certainly not legend although its thought to have taken place between Bebington Heath & Brombborough. Click the link below for more information:
